William "Bill" Roy McNeil, 82, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at his home.
A graveside service to honor William's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 2nd at the Holy Cross Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Puente and Sons Funeral Chapel.
Bill was born on February 14, 1941, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to the late Roy and Rosemary McNeil. He had a successful career as a National Account Manager with Black & Decker. His commitment and exceptional sales skills earned him recognition as one of the top performers in his field. Bill's competitive spirit was seen in the numerous company sales competitions where he or his close friend, Frank Dansby, would often emerge as the winner.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bill's true passion was in outdoor adventures. He was an avid hunter with an impeccable aim and a skilled fisherman who could reel in the biggest catches. Bill was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and held them close to his heart; he enjoyed cheering on his favorite football team whenever he was able.
Bill was a devoted family man who adored his wife, Shirley, with whom he shared 56 beautiful years of marriage. He treasured his role as a father to Steve McNeil of Havelock and took immense pride in being a grandfather to his grandchildren, Riley McNeil and Major McDonald.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life, Shirley Ann Huegele McNeil who passed away in 2021; his brother, Thomas Owen McNeil; and his furry companions, cats and dogs, whom he had a big heart for over the years.
