Tommie Y. Huizar, a cherished soul known for her boundless kindness and loving spirit, passed away on March 18, 2026, in her beloved hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Born on November 16, 1949, Tommie spent her life radiating warmth and compassion, embodying a heart that never met a stranger and always extended a welcoming hand.

She was a remarkable woman whose generosity knew no bounds. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Tommie had a unique gift for making everyone she encountered feel like family. Her presence brought comfort and joy to many, and her loving nature left an indelible mark on all fortunate enough to know her.

Tommie’s vibrant personality shone brightly through her passions. She found joy in baking delectable treats that delighted the senses and took great pleasure in decorating, adding beauty and charm wherever she went. Her enthusiasm for flowers added color to her world, and she treasured her delightful collection of stuffed animals—the "stuffies" that brought warmth to her heart. Friends loved sharing Happy Hour at Taco Cabana with her, moments that sparkled with laughter and genuine connection.

Her generous spirit extended beyond her home and circle of friends; she devoted herself to her community by volunteering regularly at the local senior citizen center. This commitment reflected her deep care for others and her desire to brighten the lives of those around her.

Tommie’s family was the center of her universe. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Angela Puente, married to Earnie; Gaye Lynn Grunewald; and Kathy Ybarra, married to Jesse. Her son, Earnie R. Huizar Jr., together with his wife Lorraine, share in the sorrow of her passing. The joy she found in family is carried on by her beloved grandchildren: Lori, Giovanni, Levi, James, Elisa, Draven, and Dorian. Including seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, each holding treasured memories of their grandmother’s gentle guidance and unwavering love.

Though six of her siblings have preceded her in death, their memories remain woven into the fabric of her life story, a testament to the enduring bonds of family.

Tommie’s visitation will take place on March 26, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at South - Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels, located at 3520 S Flores St, San Antonio, TX 78204. A Rosary service will be held that same evening from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the chapel, allowing those whose lives she touched to come together in reflection and love.

As we bid farewell to Tommie Y. Huizar, we hold close the memories of her tender heart, her infectious smile, and the profound kindness that defined her life. Her legacy lives on in the love she sowed so deeply in her family, friends, and community—a testament to a life beautifully lived, a soul dearly missed, and a spirit that will forever inspire.
