Sylvia De Laney, born on September 23, 1953, in Seguin, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. A loving mother and grandmother, Sylvia was a beacon of joy to all who knew her. She cherished laughter and was always seen with a radiant smile, embodying happiness in every moment of her life.
Sylvia was the devoted wife of James, with whom she shared 40 wonderful years of marriage. Her family was the center of her world. She is survived by her daughters Ruth (Adrian), Mandy, and Minerva “Mekas,” her son Stanley (Jill), and a precious extended family that includes her grandchildren Luis, Max, Phillip (Artaneisha), Mariah, Jordan, Derek, Ava, Yolanda, Stanley Jr., Alleena (Luis), RJ, Dominic, Seth (Patty), Arial, and her great-grandson Seth Jr. Her legacy further extends to great-grandchildren Daisy, Magnus, Maxiha, Max Jr., Kairo, King, Oakland, Messiah, Mekhi, Mariah, and great-grandchild Julie.
Sylvia’s familial bonds reached beyond her children and grandchildren to her beloved siblings, including her sisters Julie, Mary, and Janie, who continue to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Felipe and Minerva Arispe, who laid the foundation of strong family values that Sylvia carried throughout her life. Sylvia was also preceded in death by her twin sister Diana, sisters Minerva and brothers Edward, Phillip, Johnny, and Moses, whose memories remain deeply woven into the fabric of her family’s lives.
Friends and family are invited to honor Sylvia's memory at a visitation on May 22, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Northeast - Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels, located at 14315 Judson Rd, San Antonio, TX 78233. A prayer service will be held on the same day from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the chapel. The final tribute will be a graveside service on May 23, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266.
Sylvia’s life was a shining example of love, happiness, and dedication to family. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. Her joyful spirit and loving nature leave an enduring impact on her family and all those who were blessed by her presence.
