Samuel “Sam” Mason, age 73, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, and surrounded by love at PAM Health Specialty Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on June 22, 1953, in the Philippine Islands to Josefina Nery and Lyman A. Mason. He was also cared for by Virginia Racquinel, who played an important role in his early life.

Sam was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved people, and he made a mark in the lives of those he casually met and those he knew.

Sam proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam veteran. His military service was an important part of his life and reflected the strength, dedication, and sense of responsibility that he carried with him throughout the years.

After his military service, Sam became a project manager and entrepreneur. He was a man with extraordinary intelligence. His core values were built on courage, honor, resilience, as he valued the “Marine Way of Life”. Sam liked to build, fix, create and figure things out. He took pride in his work and in being able to make something with his own two hands.

He was a devoted husband to Linda DiRosa Mason, whom he loved deeply. Together, they shared a life in New Braunfels, Texas; filled with love, companionship, and family. Sam was an avid golfer, enjoyed retirement, and spending time with family and friends.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Josefina Nery and Lyman A. Mason; his brother, Manuel Nery; and his sister, Manita Nery.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda DiRosa Mason, 4 sister-in-laws, Emilie Booth, Nancy Danna, Cindy DiRosa, Ybis DiRosa. and 3 brother-in-laws, Frank DiRosa, Mike Danna, Jimmy DiRosa, and families. He is also survived by his son, Samuel “Sam” E. Mason, and daughter-in-law, Gini Holtzman; granddaughter, Aneva Marie Mason; and grandson, Samuel “Sammy” E. Mason, Jr.; his daughter, Jennifer E. Meyer, and son-in- law, Jon Meyer; grandson, Caden John Meyer; and granddaughter, Cora Elizabeth Meyer.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Sam’s resting place will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Family, friends, and others whose lives Sam touched are invited to give their respects on Saturday, October 10" from 2pm to 5pm at 497 Rosemellow St., New Braunfels, TX 78132. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) in memorial of| Sam.
