Ruben Arenas Luna, born on March 10, 1946, peacefully passed away on May 3, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and treasured brother, Ruben's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
For forty-three wonderful years, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Mary Luna. Together, they nurtured their family with love and compassion. Ruben is survived by his children, Roland Huizar Luna, Rubi-Marie Borroel, and Ruben Huizar Luna, Jr., who have each been touched by his unwavering support and guidance throughout their lives. He also leaves behind a bright legacy in the form of his grandchildren: Naomi, Baylee, Lilliana, Michaela, Novalee, and Sonny, each a reflection of his warmth and dedication.
Ruben was a beloved brother, remembered fondly by his siblings David, Joe, and Robert Luna, as well as his sisters Mary Benavides, Celia Luna, and Oliva Arenas Hortzog. The bonds of family were of paramount importance to him, and his siblings will hold dear the memories they created together.
Ruben's life was characterized by his passion for the simple joys that the world offered. He found happiness in driving to Comfort, Texas, where the scenic routes and picturesque landscapes brought him peace. His fondness for the Guadalupe River spoke to his love for nature and the tranquility it provided.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Luna Sr. and Juanita Acunas, both of whom played a significant role in shaping the man he became. Also among those he will be reunited with are his siblings Victor Luna, Jr., Jesusa Garcia, and Lydia Cortinas, whose memories continue to live on through their family.
Services honoring Ruben's life will take place at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels-South in San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will be held on May 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a Prayer Service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The following day, a Mass celebrating his life will occur at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Pleasanton, Texas, at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery.
Ruben Arenas Luna's spirit, characterized by love, strength, and kinship, will remain in the cherished hearts and memories of all who had the privilege to know him.
