Roy Pivoda passed away on October 28, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on August 19, 1960, Roy will be remembered with love for the life he lived and the place he held in the hearts of those who knew him.
Roy was a musician, and that part of him spoke to the way he moved through the world. Music was among the gifts that shaped his life and the memories he leaves behind. He was also a veteran, and his service stands as a meaningful part of his life and legacy.
Above all, Roy’s family was central to his story. He is survived by his mother, Mittie Porter; his sister, Shelly Pivoda; and his brother, James Pivoda. He also leaves behind his daughter, Emily Pivoda and her husband Cory Lane, and his grandson, Hardy Lane. Roy took special joy in being Hardy’s proud Grumpa, affectionately calling him “Toot,” a nickname that reflects the closeness and tenderness of their bond.
Those who loved Roy will remember him for the roles he filled in their lives and for the memories that will continue to bring comfort in the days ahead. May his memory be carried forward in the love of his family, in the echoes of music, and in the gratitude for a life of service.
The family has requested that if anyone would like to make a donation in his memory, the donation should be used to fund research for ALS at als.org.
