Roger Lance Shaw, born on September 29, 1972, left this world on September 11, 2025, at the tender age of 52, to be embraced by his Lord and Savior. A devoted father, husband, and son, Lance's life was a testament to love, family, and resilience.
He is survived by his beloved children, Payton George, Corbin, Caleb, and Cameron Shaw, who brought him immense joy and pride. Lance's mother, Nona Gossett, nurtured in him a spirit of kindness that radiated throughout his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Shawn (Cynthia), Bryan, and Arthur Shaw, along with his sisters, Kristina Shaw and Gay Niemeyer. Lance's legacy continues through his four nephews and five nieces, who were all fortunate to experience his warmth and encouragement.
Lance completed his education with a Bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist University, a milestone that opened doors for his career in the insurance industry, where he ultimately made his mark at the Hartford Group. He approached his work with the same passion and dedication he applied to every aspect of his life.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Lance’s heart beat for adventure. He found solace and exhilaration as a cyclist each morning, taking in the beauty of the world around him. Nature, freedom, and the thrill of the ride were elements that brought him happiness.
Friends and family are invited to come together to honor and remember Lance during a memorial service at Alamo United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas, on October 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. It is a time to reflect on the incredible life Lance led and the indelible mark he left on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though Lance has departed from this earthly realm, his spirit and the love he shared will continue to inspire everyone he touched. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of his family and friends.
