Richard L. Tolley (Rick), a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and proud USN pilot passed away on January 6 th at the age of eighty-four.

Born in Charleston, WV, Rick served his country with extraordinary courage anddedication for 23 years in the US Navy. As a naval aviator, he flew multiple combat missions and completed three tours of duty in Vietnam demonstrating unwavering commitment under the most demanding and dangerous conditions. His service reflected the highest traditions of the US Navy and the ideals of honor, duty, and sacrifice.

As a result of injuries sustained in the line of duty, he would later suffer disabilities, but the love of his country never wavered. He carried the values of leadership, discipline, and service into every chapter of his life. He also touched many with kindness, generosity, and a compassionate spirit – AND PLENTY OF SEA STORIES!

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elaine Barrios, his children, Melissa Alexander, Chris Tolley, Anna Tolley, and (Joseph Owens) as well as many friends and relatives who will cherish their memories. He loved to read, travel, cook, and dote on his family which included an army of “adopted” brothers, sons, and animals who were all spoiled shamelessly. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew him.

A service honoring his military service will be held at Fort Sam Houston where he will be laid to rest with full military honors, a final tribute befitting a man who gave so much to the nation he loved.
