Rebecca Ann Wadsworth, a fiercely independent and strong-willed woman known for her kindness and selflessness, passed away on May 22, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 56, after battling Ovarian Cancer. Born on November 5, 1968, in Davenport, Iowa, Becky lived a life characterized by her dedication to others.
Growing up, Becky enjoyed playing softball, running track and spending time with friends. As an adult, she lived in many states all around the country and made lasting friends wherever she went. Becky could light up a room with her beautiful smile and contagious laugh.
Throughout her life, she was committed to helping others. Even through her work, with her early days at Barnes & Noble to her more recent real estate career. Becky would also often be found with small bags of food in her car, which she would happily give away to those in need. Her passion for animals led her to volunteer with animal rescues and dog shelters, which were particularly close to her heart.
An avid beachgoer, she delighted in the sun, sand, and surf; taking every opportunity to relax by the ocean. Additionally, she embraced her love for cycling, reading, bird watching, and enjoying sporting events like NASCAR, football, and golf.
Becky is survived by her beloved daughter, Renee; her cherished granddaughter, Sparrow River; her devoted mother, Shirley; her steadfast brother, Scott; her best friend of 50 years, Kim Sanders; and her faithful canine companions, Ryker, Rudy, and Louie.
She was predeceased by her father, Gary, and her grandson, Jack Gary, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.
Becky will be remembered not only for her strength and independence but also for the warmth and kindness she shared with everyone she met. It is impossible to count the number of lives she touched, whether it was as a cherished friend or a stranger whom she would make feel like family. Her legacy of compassion and her unwavering spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Corpus Christi, TX, in May/June 2026. We will have a few hours to gather, share memories, and scatter her ashes along the beautiful coastline of the beach while on a chartered boat.
