Listen to Obituary

Our beloved aunt, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, & wife, Ricia Hulbert, died on August 6th, after a stroke. She was 69 years young.

Ricia was the heart of our home and family. She raised two children, Christian(45) and Sage(48), to be independent and thoughtful adults in a happy loving home. Ricia was married for 46 years to her soulmate, Vern, who preceded her in death. She was a loving great grandmother to Freya (9 months), Jasperian (3), Athena (6), & Ella (9); a grandmother to Jake (18), Gage (21), Xianvieve (24), Cole (24), Aidan (26), Rowdy (27), Tristian (27) & Gabriel (30) she was the "loving Nana," always willing to help anyone in need and generally spoiling the kids rotten any chance she could. A sister to Johnny, Sandra, Richard, & Sharon, whom all have their own stories most of us will never know. There are many other family members who all loved her and will miss her dearly.

Ricia was known for her hearty wit and kind heart. She was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be dearly missed. At Ricia's request, there will only be a graveside service, but before she passed she made it known she wanted to donate any usable organs to those in need. At least two people & their families have benefitted by the gifts she provided after her passing, which was made possible by LifeGift.

Her Funeral Services will be held at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery at 0930 Wednesday August 13, 2025; 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78209, at Pavilion 3.

In place of flowers please pay it forward and remember to always stop and smell the roses.
