Listen to Obituary

Pam Smith of San Antonio, Texas joined her Lord in heaven on December 10, 2025. She passed peacefully at home with her husband Ray.

Pam was born on September 12, 1949 in Lodi, Ohio. Her parents, Ruth and Darol Baller, raised her along with her brother Gary and sister Tonja in Las Vegas, Okinawa and Dugway Proving Ground. There she met William Ray Smith and they married on January 18, 1969, a breezy but sunny Utah winter day. Within their first year of marriage, Ray was sent to Vietnam. After Ray’s separation from the army, they moved to San Antonio. They joined the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in May of 1975 and later transferred to King of Kings Lutheran Church.

Pam graduated cum laude from Southwest Texas State with a degree in accounting. She passed the CPA test after graduating from college and soon earned her CPA certificate. During her career, Pam worked for a CPA firm, a home builder, a government agency and then her final job as Director of Endowments at Trinity University. Pam became a Mary Kay consultant and established lifelong friends and clients through this second career. She loved Mary Kay products and helping others care for themselves through skin care and make up.

Pam loved and adored her children and grandchildren! Courtney was born in March of 1975 and Cameron completed the family a few short years later in February 1992. When Cameron started school, Pam volunteered more with PTA at the local school level and for the NEISD district. She was honored with the Texas PTA Life membership. She continued to show her support for PTA when her grandchildren arrived. Nathan was born in December 2003 and Vera arrived in March 2011. She loved to bake and shop with her grandchildren and attend their activities and programs. Pam also began to scrapbook with friends and enjoyed monthly scrapbook weekends with this new hobby. She loved listening to Christian pop and rock and watching soaps and Hallmark movies.

Pam enjoyed being involved at her church home, King of Kings Lutheran Church. She attended Bible studies with Pastor Biar and home studies like the Mary Martha group. She served in many ways there including being treasurer on the church council, teaching Sunday school and volunteering in the Lutheran Womens Missionary League. She was honored with their Dorcas award for her service. She memorably helped organize lock ins for the girls and took kids to Lutherland with Ray for retreats.

Pam was preceded in death by sister Tonja Hiebert, father Darol Baller, brother Gary Baller and mother Ruth Baller. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ray Smith, daughter Courtney and husband Terry Rawe, son Cameron, grandson Nathan Rawe, granddaughter Vera Smith, brothers in law Jesse Smith and Tommy Smith and his wife Delores, along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She enjoyed the title of Great and Wonderful Aunt Pam but cherished the name Grammy the most.

The family is thankful for the support of friends and family these past few months. They are also appreciative of Pastor Schmidt and Daniella Guzman of Griswold Home Care.
