Miguel Reyes Jr., a devoted father, proud grandfather, loving son, brother , uncle and friend, passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on May 27, 1961, Miguel's journey through life was characterized by his unwavering dedication to his family and the work he loved.
For many years, Miguel worked tirelessly, spending a decade at Butterkrust Bakery,followed by 22 years at Walgreens, and an additional ten years with Judson Independent School District. His work ethic was second to none; he was known as one of the hardest workers around. Yet, amidst his commitments, the most important aspect of Miguel's life was always his grandchildren. They brought him immeasurable joy and pride, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Miguel found great pleasure in the simplicity of life, often gathering with friends and family over a BBQ, sharing stories and laughter. His love for sports was evident; he was an avid fan of football, particularly the Cowboys and the Spurs for basketball. He found afternoons of excitement in watching games. Miguel also enjoyed the thrill of fishing and gambling, often indulging in scratch-off tickets, which added a little extra excitement to his days. He was a longtime member of the Eagles Mixed Bowling League, his passion for bowling led him to compete in National Tournaments .
He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughters Yvonne R. Aguirre (Alfonso), Yvette Narezo (Jolisa), and Briana Reyes Barco (Joel), who will forever remember his guidance and warmth. Miguel is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Francisco Miguel Lopez (Genevieve), Micaela Lopez, Michael Aguirre, Amelia Narezo, Theodore Narezo, and Joel Lee Barco, who were the apples of his eye. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Hernandez (Rene) and Elaine Rodriguez (Edward), 3 additional siblings and his longtime partner Cecilia Dickerson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members, all of whom will deeply miss his presence.
Miguel is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Luz Maria Reyes. He also joins his father, Miguel Reyes Sr., and mother, Amelia Rodriguez Reyes along with his in-laws Jose and Carmen Gonzalez, brother-in-laws Andy Gonzalez and Joe Luis Gonzalez.
As we celebrate the life of Miguel Reyes Jr., we remember a man whose strength was matched only by his love for family. His legacy will continue through the smiles of his grandchildren and in the hearts of all those who were lucky enough to know him. Rest in peace, Miguel; your hard work and loving spirit will forever be cherished.
