Miguel Antonio Lopez passed away on February 4, 2026, leaving behind a family forever changed by his absence and forever blessed by his love.
Miguel was born on August 1, 1963, in Columbus, Mississippi, and grew up in Schertz, Texas. He was a proud member of the Samuel Clemens High School Class of 1981 where he played football, and wore number 69, and carried lessons of teamwork, pride and perseverance. After high school, Miguel joined the United States Navy, serving his country with dedication before receiving a medical discharge.
He was the son of the late Dolores and Frank, and is survived by his loving wife, Tammie, and his former wife, Lisa, with whom he shared and raised their children—always placing family at the center of his life.
Miguel was a devoted and deeply loving father to Brianna (Joe), Mariah (Mario), Alexis (Sam), Jacqui, and Theo. He was a proud grandfather to Robert, Elijah, Zaniyah, Aurelia, and Brayden, each grandchild holding a special place in his heart. Being “Papa” was one of his greatest joys.
He was a beloved brother to Larry (Monica), Frank (Fenny), Shawn (Brittany), and Lisa, and a caring uncle to his nephews, known for his presence and support in their lives. As the big brother and uncle, Miguel was the steady one—the rock of the family—carrying strength quietly, offering guidance honestly, and showing up consistently.
Miguel was deeply loved by all who knew him. He was a truly good man—kind, genuine, and unwaveringly honest. He had a playful spirit and a laugh that could brighten any room. At the same time, he was known for speaking the truth with courage and love, always standing firmly in who he was.
He really loved football—every kind of football, from the Friday night lights of high school games to the big Saturdays of college football. He often said he loved high school football best because it was pure, and that simple joy stayed with him his whole life. Football wasn’t just a game to Miguel—it was passion, memory, and a connection to family and community.
He loved music and found joy cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs. Above all else, Miguel loved his wife and family fiercely. His love was steady, loyal, and unconditional.
Though he is no longer physically with us, Miguel Antonio Lopez lives on in the laughter he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. His presence will be missed more than words can express, but his spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
“Those we love don’t go away—they walk beside us every day.”
