Mike Campbell, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. A devoted father, partner, and friend, Mike was known for his incredible work ethic and his ability to fix just about anything. He spent decades of his life to a successful career as a Chief Engineer at the Embassy Suites Hotel before enjoying an early retirement in his 50s. Whether it was cars, buildings, or anything in between, he loved working with his hands. Outside of his work, one of Mike’s greatest joys was spending time at the beach, but his true, lifelong passion was always his family, who meant everything to him.
He leaves behind a long legacy through his children. He is survived by his longtime partner, Linda Gawlik, and his four children: Shanna Chaney, Michael Campbell and his partner Carrie Poe, TyShawn McKay and her wife Sylvia Perales, and Crystal Anderson and her husband Jeff Anderson. Mike is also lovingly remembered by his stepchildren, Christopher Gawlik and his wife Suzanne Gawlik, Kimberly Frias and her husband Daniel Frias, and Nicole Gutierrez and her husband Roman Gutierrez. Mike's memory will live on through his cherished grandchildren: Allyssa Avalos and her husband Juan Avalos, Taylor Chaney, Karah Campbell, Cayla Loving, Xen Gallant, Declan Anderson, Alayna Gawlik, Aubrey Smith, Adam Smith Jr., Ryann Frias, Jayden Hernandez, and Jaysen Robles. He was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Audrey Avalos, Stella Avalos, Sebastian Avalos, Bry’cee Williams, Cayden Williams, Emerald Williams, Cohen Robertson, and Jayce Robertson. Mike's warmth, skill, and devotion to his loved ones will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
