Maria Linda Gonzales, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, in New Braunfels, Texas, at the age of 72. Born on January 21, 1954, in Raymondville, Texas, Maria was known for her intelligence, organizational skills, and infectious laughter, characteristics that made her a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew her.
Throughout her life, Maria had a passion for travel and knowledge, always eager to explore new places and learn from the world around her. As a bibliophile and phenomenal writer, she found joy in literature and often expressed her creativity with eloquence. Maria was very family-centered, dedicating her life to nurturing and supporting her loved ones.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard Gonzales; her daughter, Michele (Derrick), and her son, Brian (Priscilla). Maria was also the proud grandmother of Christian, Nathan, Sadie, and Ezra, who brought immense joy to her life. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters, Alice (Bobby) and Melissa.
Maria is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Inez Diaz Garza, and her stepfather, Roberto Garza.
The memory of Maria Linda Gonzales will continue to live on through the many lives she touched with her spirit and warmth. A visitation to celebrate her life will be held on February 15, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Northeast - Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels, located at 14315 Judson Rd, San Antonio, TX. Following the visitation, a Rosary service will take place from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
On February 16, 2026, a Mass will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 11:30 AM, followed by a graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
Maria's legacy of love, laughter, and wisdom will forever be remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her.
