Maria De Jesus Rodriguez

Ms. Maria De Jesus Rodriguez, 87, entered the kingdom of Heaven on August 19, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. 

Maria De Jesus was born December 25, 1938 in Anahuac, NL. Mexico. She was the youngest child of Emilio and Marcelina Rodriguez. Although she was the baby of the family, she was fiercely independent and did not hesitate to speak her mind.   Maria grew up with a strong sense of loyalty to her family and she was not afraid of hard work. Even on hot summer days, she would be out mowing the lawn or tending to her plants and pets. As an adult Maria worked as a seamstress for many years at C.I. Castro Company in San Antonio. When she retired she continued to use her sewing talents to sew for friends and family.  Tia Maria even made quinceañera and wedding dresses for her family.  Maria lived in San Antonio and Laredo Texas, eventually settling back in San Antonio Texas to be closer to her sister Celestina and her family. She continued to provide money, love, and support to her family throughout her long life. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Teodora Saldana, Ramona Rodriguez, Refugia Rodriguez, Petra Rodriguez, Celestina Rosas and brother Jose Santos Rodriguez.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her many nieces, nephews and friends who will carry their memories of her in their hearts.

We want to thank the nurses and staff at Silver Creek Nursing and Rehab for their continuous and compassionate care of our Aunt Mary. The family also wishes a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice.
