Maria Casanova

Maria Teressa Casanova, age 68 of Maxwell, Texas passed away on September 7, 2023 in Kyle, Texas.  She was born on November 18, 1954 in Poteet, Texas to Paul and Matiana Peña Orta.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years Johnny Ray Casanova and her daughters Marissa Medina and husband Kyle, Sara Casanova and husband Anthony Estrada; her grandchildren Izabella, Amileyah, Alexander Jr., Yazmine, Nataliah, Mya, Ava, Penelope, Anthony Jr., Marcelo, and Milani.  Terri is also survived by her brother John Orta and wife Evangelina, and sister Gloria Sanchez and husband Joe, and brother-in-law Leonard Lozano, brother-in-law Roger Casanova and wife Lupe, and by 10 nieces and 6 nephews.

Serving as pallbearers for Terri’s service will be: Paul Lozano, Gilbert Sanchez, Joey Sanchez, Ernest James Lozano, Anthony Estrada, Michael Casanova, and Johnny Whatley.

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Matiana Orta,  sister Rachel Lozano, her in-laws Juan and Maria Casanova, and great niece Ella Lee Orta Whatley.

Terri worked for the City of San Marcos for 23 ½ years.  She will be missed for her tenacity, humor, and caring nature.  Terri dearly loved her 11 grandchildren, her many nieces and nephews, and her dog Angel.  She will be profoundly missed by her surviving loved ones.

Visitation will be held at Puente and Sons Funeral Chapels in San Antonio at 14315 Judson Road from 4pm to 8pm, with rosary to be recited at 6:30pm, Thursday September 14, 2023.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4411 Moana Dr. in San Antonio at 10am, Friday September 15, 2023.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
