Lorenza R. Ruiz, beloved matriarch, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 97. Born on May 4, 1928, in Floresville, Texas, she led a life marked by devout faith, boundless love for her family, and a deep commitment to her community.
Lorenza exemplified a spirit of kindness and devotion. She dedicated herself to introducing others to her faith, taking immense pride in bringing people to the church and helping them find their own spiritual paths. Her enthusiasm for nurturing both plants and people was evident in her cherished garden, where she spent countless hours caring for her beloved flowers and plants, pouring the same love into her garden as she did into her relationships.
As a mother, Lorenza leaves behind her five dedicated sons, Ramiro Romero, Ricardo Romero, Raymundo Jr. Romero, Rudolfo Romero, and Rolando Romero, along with her loving daughters, Rosalinda Pena and Rachel Hinojosa; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members. They were enriched by her wisdom and unwavering support throughout their lives.
Lorenza is preceded in death by her siblings, Juan Jr. Ruiz, Dolores Ruiz, Matias Ruiz and Maria Lara. Each of these departed family members held a special place in her heart, and their memories will continue to be cherished by those who remain.
A visitation will be held at South - Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels in San Antonio, located at 3520 S Flores St, on September 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:45AM. Following the visitation, a memorial service will take place at the same location from 12:00 PM to 12:30PM. Lorenza will find her final resting place at Wildflower Memorial Park with the interment scheduled for 1:30 PM on the same day.
As we gather to remember Lorenza, we celebrate her legacy of love, faith, and resilience. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace, knowing she has left behind a family who carries forth her teachings of faith, love, and hope.
