Lionel Reyes

Lionel Reyes of Live Oak, Texas passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 6, 2026 at the age of 85. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Leticia Zapata Reyes; son Lionel (Lori) Reyes Jr.; daughters Karen (Fernando) Arias, and Anacani (Ryan) Reyes Tollinger; grandchildren Sebastian Romero, Analisa and Alejandro Arias; sister, Romelia (Jimmie) Gonzalez; and numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Antonio Reyes and Cora Diaz Reyes, and brother, Antonio (Angela) Rogelio Reyes. 

Lionel was born May 3, 1941, in Del Rio, Texas and graduated from Del Rio High School in 1960. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army and later graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He began his law enforcement career with the Del Rio Police Department followed by the National Park Service. He retired as a Federal Special Agent after 25 years of service.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 19th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Puente and Sons Funeral Chapels, 14315 Judson Rd, San Antonio, Texas, with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. On Wednesday, May 20th at 11:30 a.m. Mass will be held at St. John Neuman Catholic Church, 6680 Crestway Dr, San Antonio, Texas with internment to immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, Texas.
