Leonor A. Rodriguez

With faith in the promise of the Resurrection, we announce the passing of Leonor Alma Rodriguez, who peacefully entered into eternal life on June 23, 2026, at the age of 83.

Leonor was born on February 9, 1943, to Leonardo Lara and Maria Luisa Lara. She devoted her life to her family, her students, and her Catholic faith, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and service.

She was the beloved wife of Louis Rodriguez, with whom she shared a loving marriage filled with cherished memories and a lifetime of devotion. She was a devoted mother to Anna Laura Petri (Andy) and Angela Christina Rodriguez.

Leonor was a proud and loving grandmother to Madeline Petri, Andrew (A.J.) Petri and his wife, Irma, Krystal Petri, and Noah Christopher Whiteley. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her grandchildren—encouraging them, supporting their dreams, and celebrating their accomplishments.

Education was one of Leonor's lifelong passions. She attended St. Henry's Academy, Providence High School, and Our Lady of the Lake University, where she prepared for a distinguished career in education. She inspired generations of students throughout her years as a teacher at Whittier Middle School, Lanier High School, Brackenridge High School, and St. Philip's College. Her dedication to learning and to the success of her students touched countless lives.

After retiring from the classroom, Leonor began a second career as a consultant for Gifted and Talented (G/T) Programs throughout the State of Texas, continuing her commitment to education and helping students reach their full potential.

Leonor loved sports, and she and her best friend, Lupe Hardy, faithfully followed the San Antonio Spurs. She was especially grateful to see the Spurs reach the NBA Finals one more time.

Classical music was another of Leonor's great passions. One of the highlights of her college years was attending a performance by the legendary pianist Maestro Arthur Rubinstein with the San Antonio Symphony, where he performed Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. It remained one of her most treasured musical memories.

A faithful Catholic, Leonor was a devoted parishioner of St. Helena Catholic Church for 51 years. Her deep faith guided her throughout her life and was reflected in her love of family, her service to others, and her unwavering trust in God. She also had a deep devotion to the Miraculous Medal, also known as the Medal of the Immaculate Conception, and visited its shrine in Paris numerous times.

The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Olivia, San Juanita, and Roxy for the compassionate care and kindness they showed Leonor during her illness.

Interment will follow immediately at:

Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Shelter No. 5 1:30 p.m.

Following the burial, a reception will be held at:

Providence High School 1215 N. St. Mary's Street San Antonio, Texas

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to Providence High School, Our Lady of the Lake University, or to a charity of your choice.

Though Leonor has departed this earthly life, her faith, love, generosity, and gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me but also to all who have longed for His appearing."
