Josue Arcenio Cruz

April 8, 2004 — May 14, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josué A. Cruz, who departed this world on May 14, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on April 8, 2004, in San Jose, California, Josué lit up the lives of those around him with his adventurous spirit and boundless curiosity, always eager to explore all that life had to offer.

Josué was a truly unique soul-someone who found joy in the simple things, especially his daily walks, where he embraced the beauty of the world around him. He was a passionate fan of Japanese anime and loved exploring new cultures through food, never afraid to try something different. His adventurous palate was a perfect match for his open heart.

His parents, Josue and Irene Cruz, along with his brother, Alexander, will forever treasure the memories they shared-filled with laughter, love, and countless special moments.

Josué is also remembered with deep affection by a large and loving extended family. His grandfathers, Arsenio Cruz, Hipolito Moreno, and Javier Medeles, will always hold close the memory of his joyful smile. His grandmothers, Ines Arizmendi and Josefina Moreno, will fondly recall the cherished times spent with their grandson. A devoted circle of aunts and uncles-including Leonel, Esmeralda, Lizzania, Angelica, Raquel, and Marisol, Rolando, Ysmael, Martin, Maricela y Mario-helped shape the environment where his creativity and warmth could flourish.

Josué was fortunate to be surrounded by mentors and friends who supported and inspired him throughout his life, including his godparents: Ysmael and Marisol Garduno; Rolando y Raquel. His mentor and friend Alfred Prieto and his childhood friend Adrian Osteguin. His many cousins loved him and will always carry his memory in their hearts.

One of Josué's proudest accomplishments was his musical talent. A gifted saxophone player, he had the ability to fill a room with beautiful sound that reflected his vibrant personality and deep emotions. Music was his sanctuary and his voice-a true expression of who he was.

Though his time with us was far too short, Josué A. Cruz's life was a shining example of adventure, love, and connection. He was a kind and caring young man with a pure soul. Unafraid of being honest, he'd often speak his mind regardless of who he was talking with. Making sure to never hide how he truly felt. This quality would lend itself to his sense of humor. His unapologetic words would often result in laughter from those around him without even intending to do so. He enjoyed being around others as much as they enjoyed him. Josué as a person was nothing short of genuine. His presence made our world a brighter place, and he will be missed beyond words.

To honor Josué, a visitation will be held on May 21, 2025, at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels - South, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. A Mass will follow at Mary Mother of the Church at 1:30 PM, concluding with a graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery at 2:00 PM.

Rest in peace, Josué. Your light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who love you.
