Joseph Anthony Shirley

"Joseph (Joe) Anthony Shirley, 81, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas.

Joe was born on December 29, 1943, in Covina, California, to John and Mathilde Shirley. He spent his early years in Southern California and graduated from Upland High School in 1961. Following his graduation, Joe answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving from 1963 to 1967.

After completing his military service, Joe transitioned into the emerging field of Information Technology. His passion for computers and problem-solving led him to a successful career as a computer consultant, where he built a reputation for his knowledge, dedication, and integrity.

Joe was a man of many interests and deep convictions. He was especially passionate about history, family genealogy, religion, and politics. He welcomed a spirited debate, whether with a close friend or a perfect stranger, always eager to exchange ideas and share his perspective.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diana Shirley, and his second wife, Frances Shirley. Joe is survived by his children: Cindy, Stan, Curt, and Ed; his stepchildren: Melissa and Ivan; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.

Joe will be remembered for his sharp mind, his love of conversation, and his unwavering dedication to his family and beliefs. He leaves behind a legacy of curiosity, service, and strength that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him."
