Jose "Joe" Antonio Vega, 72, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas.  Born on May 12, 1953, in Manhattan, New York, he was the cherished son of Paula and Carlos Vega.

Jose is survived by his devoted wife, Margarita Vega, whom he married on August 19, 1972.  Together, they shared a loving marriage of more that 53 years and built a strong, family-centered life.  He is also survived by his children Marcy, Cristel, Jamie, Jessica and Joe, as well as his six beloved grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life.

Joe loved a life defined by service and commitment.  In August 1073, Joe proudly joined the U.S. Army, where he served with honor, dedication, and distinction for nearly 14 years.  He rose to the rank of Seargeant First Class (SFC), a testament to his leadership, discipline, and commitment to his fellow soldiers, serving honorably until his discharge in April 1987.  After his military career, Joe continued his dedication to public service through a long career in the U. S. Postal Service.  Starting as Clerk he continued serving his community and climbed the ladder ending as a Manager of the Vehicle Maintenance Facility.  His leadership, integrity, and hard work left a lasting impact on those around him.  He is remembered for his strength, his warmth, and the quiet way he supported and cared for the people around him.

More than anything, Joe was dedicated to his family.  He spent countless hours coaching youth football, T-ball, and baseball, and volunteering for his children's and grandchildren's activities.  He was a steady, supportive presence - always there on the sidelines, always ready to help, and always proud of the people he loved most.

Those who knew Joe will remember his generous spirit, his humor, and the stories he loved to share about his roots, family, and life experiences.  His presence brought comfort, and his kindness left a lasting mark on everyone he met.

Throughout his life, Joe was known for his strength, warm heart, unwavering loyalty, and steady support for those he loved.  He filled his home with humor, love, and unforgettable stories from his upbringing and the many experiences that shaped him.  His generous spirit and comforting presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Joe's family and friend will forever cherish his memory and the love, guidance, and resilience he shared with them.  His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched through his kindness and devotion.
