Born on February 21, 1940, to María De Los Angeles Valdez and Antonio Uñate Martinez, José was a man of great integrity, love, and dedication. He is preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife of 65 years, Ernestina Dominguez de Uñate; his son, Roberto Uñate; and grandsons Joshua Rene Cardenas, Lorenzo Ortiz Ill, Joel Agustin Uñate and son-in-law Bacilio Santellano Jr.

José retired from CPS Energy after over 30 years of dedicated service. He was honored with a gold ring for perfect attendance and exemplary performance, never once calling in sick. His work ethic was unmatched, often holding two jobs to ensure his family's needs were met. After his wife was involved in a serious car accident, José chose to retire early so he could care for her full-time, a true testament to his enduring love and devotion.
Outside of work, Jose found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of ranch life. He loved visiting the ranch, where he raised goats, planted and nurtured crops, and took pride in taming horses, a skill he developed in his younger years. His deep connection to the land reflected his grounded spirit and love for nature.
No matter what the situation was, a broken-down car, a leaking roof, or any other issue José was always the first to show up. He would drop everything without hesitation to help family in need.
That was simply who he was: dependable, selfless, and always putting others before himself.
A hardworking, humble, and generous man, José will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His strength, wisdom, and unwavering support for his family will continue to inspire generations to come.
José will be tremendously missed by his family and friends.
