John Ralph Fletcher, 79, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026.
John was born on March 11, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ralph and Margaret Fletcher. He lived a life of service, dedication, and love for his family and country.
John proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he developed the strong sense of duty and commitment that remained with him throughout his life. Following his military services, he worked in hospital security, known affectionately as Fletch. Where he was respected for his dependability and willingness to help others.
John was married to the love of his life, Flora Fletcher, with whom he shared many happy years until her passing.
An avid Corvette enthusiast, john also enjoyed collecting and learning about firearms. He appreciated craftmanship, history, and the friendships that grew from his interests.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife Flora Fletcher, his parents, Ralph and Margaret Fletcher; and his sister, Ruth Ann Romanowski.
He is survived by his nephews, Fred Hurst, Frank Hurst, Spencer (Bobby) Hurst, Todd Romanowski, Ryan Romanowski, Kyle Romanowski, Michael Romanowski, and John Romanowski; niece Cinzia Merrill, along with extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
John will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, unwavering dedication to those he loved, and his wonderfully sill sense of humor. Even during his final days, he never lost his ability to make people smile. He would jokingly ask the nurses to bring him a beer and a pizza, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to have either. His playful spirit and quick wit brightened the days of those caring for him and brought comfort and laughter to his family.
His service to his country, his commitment to his work, and the kindness he showed to others will not be forgotten.
A celebration of John's life will be held at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels on July 10, 2026. His family asks that he be remembered with love, gratitude, and many fond memories he leaves behind.
May he rest in eternal peace.
