Janellyn A. Harmsen, affectionately known as Jan, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on December 30, 1943, in San Francisco, California, Jan lived a life marked by devotion, kindness, and unwavering honesty.

A proud and dedicated employee of Citi, Jan served as a Customer Service Representative since 2011. Her professionalism and commitment to her work were matched only by her warmth and ability to connect with those around her. Jan’s infectious laugh and welcoming nature made her a cherished colleague and friend.

Jan’s early life was shaped in part by her education at Los Angeles Senior High, from which she graduated in the Class of 1961. She was born Janellyn Brown and remained deeply connected to her family throughout her life. Jan was extremely devoted as a wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. She could always be relied upon, no matter the circumstances, embodying a steadfast presence for those she loved.

Jan’s cherished marriage to her late husband, Rolf Harmsen, spanned 46 beautiful years. Together, they shared a passion for traveling across the country and welcomed their beloved dog Gigi into their adventures, as she accompanied them everywhere. Jan’s family remembered her for her sincerity, kindness, and the joy she found in spending time with loved ones.

Her surviving family includes her nephew Christopher, niece-in-law Denise, great-niece Kenza, great-nephew Ethan, niece-in-law Christina, and close friends Lupe and Chuck McIntosh. Jan is also lovingly remembered alongside her departed husband Rolf Harmsen, brother Mike Brown, sister-in-law Patricia Brown, nephew Kenny Brown, and her mother, Jane Ellen Bunn.

Jan’s legacy is one of love, integrity, and joy. She leaves behind a powerful example of generosity and kindness that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know her.
