Heriberto Barreto-Rivera

Heriberto Barreto-Rivera, a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026. Born on June 5, 1948, in Puerto Rico, Heriberto was a man whose warmth and presence touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a man of humor and gentle spirit, whose beautiful singing voice and love for music were cherished gifts to his family and friends.

Heriberto’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with laughter, song, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved. His playful sense of humor could light up a room, and his music was a soulful expression of his heart, bringing joy to family gatherings and celebrations. Above all, Heriberto’s greatest passion was his family, who were the center of his world.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Carmen Vargas, his sons Heriberto Barreto Jr., Willy Quinones, and Javier Quinones, and his daughters Azlim Barreto, Maritere Barreto, and Caly Quinones. His brothers Hector M. Despiau Rivera and Jose V. Feliciano Rivera, and sisters Sonia V. Sanjurjo Rivera, Mary Luz Despiau Rivera, and Carmen Gloria Feliciano Rivera, carry forward his memory with pride and affection.

Heriberto was also a devoted grandfather to Josue D. Figueroa Barreto, Akash Barreto, Julian M. Garcia Quinones, Laura Quinones Diaz, David Quinones, Nicholas Quinones and Bella Quinones. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart and was a source of immense joy and pride.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gregorio Barreto and Laura Rivera Jordon, whose legacy of love and strength lives on in him. Heriberto’s journey on this earth was marked by his deep commitment to family and a zest for life expressed through his enchanting voice and humor.

Though Heriberto has left this world, his spirit remains alive in the laughter he inspired, the songs he sang, and the love he bestowed upon those fortunate enough to know him. His passing is a profound loss, but the memories he leaves behind are a precious treasure, forever etched in the hearts of his loved ones.
