Gretta Ruth Thomas, born on November 9, 1982, departed from this life on November 18, 2025. Gretta was a remarkable woman, whose adventurous spirit and deep love for her family defined her life. She is remembered for her unwavering devotion as a wife and mother, taking immense pride in being the amazing mother to her two sons, River and Wilder Thomas. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Together with her husband, Scott Thomas, Gretta embarked on numerous journeys across the globe, living in various countries and making memories that would last a lifetime. Their adventures included visiting over a dozen national parks, where they connected with nature and each other. These experiences not only enriched their lives but also strengthened their bond as partners in adventure.
Gretta was the beloved daughter of Luis Emmanuel and Irma Macmang, and she is survived by her supportive family, including her brother, John Macmang, and her sister-in-law, Tammy Lynn Thomas. She was a cherished daughter-in-law to Carolyn and John Thomas, who welcomed her with open arms into their family.
Gretta's nurturing soul extended beyond her immediate family; she touched the lives of many with her kindness and zest for life. Her legacy will continue through her loved ones, who will carry her spirit and values with them.
Services will be held to honor Gretta's life on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. A Mass will take place at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, located at 125 W Whittier St, San Antonio, TX 78210, starting at 10:00 AM. Following the Mass. The celebration of her life will begin at 1:00 PM and continue until 5:00 PM on the same day and will be held at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels-South, 3520 South Flores Street, San Antonio, TX 78204, Rosary to be recited at 2:00PM.
Gretta fought fiercely against the challenges she faced and lived life to the fullest, embodying love, strength, and adventure. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will remain alive in the memories and hearts of all who knew her.
