Gildardo Esqueda

July 24, 1940 — June 9, 2022

On June 9th, 2022, in his home, Gildardo Esqueda left this world unexpectedly and peacefully,
due to natural causes, surrounded by his wife, his son and granddaughter.
Gildardo was born to Heriberto and Delfina Esqueda Andrade in Quencio, Michoacan Mexico on
July 24,1940. After completing his schooling, he went on to serve his military service before
leaving to the United States to start his work as a migrant worker in the cotton fields of
Shallowater, TX. He then moved to California with his father for some time, and in his frequent
visits home, he came to know Josefina Mendez and would later marry her on August 25, 1962
in Coeneo, Michoacán México.
Supporting his wife, and eventually children, he would visit them back and forth from the states
to Zacapu, Michoacan, and eventually, he moved his wife so they could start their life together in
Oxnard, California where they lived for many years. They later moved to Lubbock, Texas to go
back to his work in the cotton fields of Shallowater in 1995 and then went on to retire and
relocate to San Antonio, TX in 2006.
While Gildardo was hardworking and dedicated to providing for his family, he loved watching
and listening to baseball and soccer games. His favorite teams being the L.A. Dodgers and the
Chivas de Guadalajara. He also shared the same passion for singing music inspired by his
favorite artists, Vicente Fernandez, Javier Soliz and Federico Villa. He would compete in local
singing competitions, performing some of their greatest hits. He also loved watching old movies
from the Golden Era and watching his favorite actors like Pedro Infante and Antonio Aguilar. His
favorite hobby throughout his life was carpentry. Being self taught, he created beautiful work and
furniture for his home as well as for his family members', many of which still have the creations
he made to remember him by.
Many can agree that Gildardo was a loving, hardworking, and faithful man but above all, he was
joyful. He lit up a room with his gleaming smile and infectious laugh. He was a man of God who
lived his life faithfully, and never faltered his love and compassion not only to God, but to his
loved ones as well.
Gildardo is predeceased by his parents and sister, Celia Esqueda, and left to cherish his
memory is his wife Josefina, his four children, Gildardo, Daniel, Maria Eugenia and Abel, his
brothers Valdemar, Fausto and Heriberto and sisters, Rosa, Elizabeth and Gloria, along with
grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
His viewing will be held on June 22nd at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels, 14315 Judson Rd.,
San Antonio, TX 78247 from 2-8 P.M. with a Rosary at 6:00 pm and his Mass on June 23rd at
