Eugene Larsen

Eugene (Gene) V. Larsen, San Antonio TX, husband, father, businessman passed away February 26, 2026, at the age of 88. Son of Eugene E. and Marjorie E. (Vaughan) Larsen. Gene was born and raised in Illinois later moving to Nebraska where he spent the remainder of his youth. Gene attended University of Nebraska and graduated in 1960. Go Huskers! Shortly thereafter he relocated to San Antonio where he made his home.

His professionalism and dedication to hard work proved beneficial in all his business adventures. Following college, he was employed by IBM, co-founded Star Data—currently Sirius Solutions, Southwest Computer sales, and Encore Technology. He then ventured into real estate, marketing, and finally the restaurant industry with interests in Stonewerks, Las Palapas, Earl Abel’s, Quarry Hofbrau, Hofbrau at the Rim, River Hofbrau and Capo’s Pizzeria.

He leaves a lasting impact on all who knew him and a void that will be difficult to fill.

Gene leaves his wife, Claire C. (St. Martin) Larsen, children Greg McNulty and Barbara Stark along with grandson Leo Stark. Gene also leaves his sisters Lavonne Fitzpatrick and Marilee Hyde, sisters-in-law Doris Larsen and Barbara Bunyan, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Ken (Jo) Larsen and Richard Larsen, and brother-in-law Paul Fitzpatrick.
