Eddie Jerry Sanchez, a devoted family man and cherished member of the San Antonio community, passed away on October 26, 2025, at the age of 70, leaving behind a legacy of love and hard work. Born on April 17, 1955, in San Antonio, Eddie cultivated a humble life, embracing every moment with gratitude and compassion.
Throughout his life, Eddie poured his heart into the things that mattered most. He was a proud son to Lesvia Schleicher and a loving husband to his wife, Amelia Sanchez. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, raising three wonderful children—Yvette, Sandra, and Eddie Jerry Jr.—who were the apples of his eye. Along with his grandchildren, including Jake, Evie, Jesse, Josiah, and Mila, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Eddie's work ethic was unmatched, having dedicated numerous years to serving the City of San Antonio, later retiring from SAWS. His commitment not only to his profession but also to providing for his family exemplified the values he held dear. He took great pride in his accomplishments, and his humble nature never wavered, always placing his family's needs above his own.
Outside of his professional life, Eddie found joy in simpler pleasures. He had a green thumb and was passionate about his garden and yard work, where he could often be found cultivating life and beauty. On occasion, he enjoyed the thrill of visiting casinos, where he embraced the excitement of the games and the laughter shared with family and friends.
Eddie's life will be remembered for its genuine warmth and the love he exuded. He fostered connections not only with his immediate family but also with his siblings—brothers Adam, Bill, Mark, and sisters Barbara and Dorothy. They will carry his memory forward with the stories and experiences they shared. While his family knew his heart, it was in his daily interactions with friends, neighbors and co-workers that you saw his consistent warmth and generosity.
Though Eddie is preceded in death by his father, Eddie Vargas, along with beloved grandparents Frank and Celia Flores, Uncle David Sanchez, and stepfather Ralph Schleicher, the echoes of his laughter, kindness and vibrant spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Eddie Jerry Sanchez lived a life filled with humility, love, and unwavering devotion, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to cross his path. He will be deeply missed but remembered fondly for the joy he brought to this world.
Friends and family are warmly invited to attend and pay their respects.
Remembrances may be made in the form of plants and acts of kindness.
Rest in peace, dear Father. Your memory will live on in our lives forever.
