In Loving Memory of Debra Kay (Muchow) Juhl
August 28, 1948 - July 12, 2025
Debra Kay (Muchow) Juhl, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, surrounded by her family. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, creativity, a deep commitment to family, and generosity that touched everyone who knew her.
Debbie was born in Lincoln, Illinois on August 28, 1948. She graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1966, and attended Barnes Hospital School of Nursing. On March 29, 1969, she married the love of her life, Gary Juhl. They shared more than 56 years together building a life centered around faith, family, and a deep devotion to each other.
Gary and Debbie spent the first 27 years of their life together in St. Louis, where Debbie was an avid gardener - her beautiful flower gardens received rave reviews. She worked at Barnes Hospital as a registered nurse specializing in Pediatric Urology, and after relocating to San Antonio in 1997, she also served as a parish nurse at Concordia Lutheran Church.
With a flair for decorating and a love of crocheting, crafting and interior decorating, Debbie had a gift for turning the ordinary into something beautiful. She was a gracious and generous hostess, known for throwing unforgettable gatherings and always welcoming guests with warmth, kindness, and a home-cooked meal. Debbie lived a life full of intention, making ordinary days special, and holidays and birthdays unforgettable.
A woman of many talents, Debbie was a founding member of the HCR Theatre Community Club. She acted in and directed numerous productions, helping to shape a community and creating memories that will live on.
Debbie's greatest joy came from her family, especially her five granddaughters, whom she adored with all her heart. Every moment with them, whether cheering them on, crafting, baking, shopping, decorating, or simply being together, was treasured.
She is survived by her husband Gary, her daughter Amy (Jeff) Sanders, son Todd (Jennifer) Juhl, and her cherished granddaughters Maya (Korbyn) Raesch, Rachel, and Leah Sanders, and Avery and Emerson Juhl.
Though dementia and Alzheimer's gradually took some of her abilities, they never touched her deep love for her family. Her warmth, devotion, and fierce affection remained steady, even when words and memories began to fade. Debbie leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and incredible family devotion - one that will live on through the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the joy of knowing her.
