Daniel Ramos Salinas, affectionately known as Papo to his family and Gigante Verde to his friends, passed away on February 11, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on February 3, 1933, Daniel lived a life characterized by hard work, deep familial connections, and a profound love for his music and signing. He dedicated twenty-five years of his career to H. B. Zachary, where he became a respected figure among his colleagues.
Daniel's musical soul and pride in his heritage were reflected in his personality. He relished being surrounded by his family, sharing joyous moments with his beloved wife of 69 years, Emilia Rico Salinas, and their three daughters, Sylvia Ricondo, Gloria Leal (Mario), and Veronica Trejo. His legacy also lives on through his cherished siblings Jesusa and Maria Luisa, numerous nieces and nephews along with his grandchildren Lorie, Monica, Erica, Erik, Valerie, Katy, Daniel, and Sarah, and a host of great-grandchildren, with the joy of having one great-great-grandchild. "Papo" was most proud when he was surrounded by his loving family.
Daniel also proudly served in the Army, lending him honor and a sense of duty that earned him lifelong respect from those who knew him. He was a passionate member of a CB Club, where he formed numerous friendships that enriched his life.
In his passing, Daniel is reunited with his brothers and sisters, with whom he has shared countless memories over the years. While his absence leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends, his legacy of love, music, and camaraderie will continue to resonate within those whose lives he touched. He will be remembered not just for the years he walked among us, but for the joy he brought and the love he shared throughout his remarkable life.
