Dana Crete Walsh of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on July 1, 2025, surrounded by the sounds of music and voices of loved ones who were with her to see her off to her next journey. She exemplified the true calling of what it meant to be a kind, loving, and generous spirit. Dana was a devoted wife and mother who cherished her family and friends and always found time to tend to those in need.

Born in Houston, Texas, on September 8, 1940, to Allen V. Arnold and Velva C. Vandel, Dana went on to graduate from Graceland University where she met her husband who pursued a career in the Air Force. She became a teacher and shortly after the birth of their oldest daughter, they were transferred to Okinawa, Japan, eventually making their way back to Texas where their youngest daughter was born. Dana later remarried her soulmate, William (Bill) Walsh, who was her constant companion and inspiration until his passing in 2012.

She was a dedicated member of both Christ Community Church and Wayside Chapel.

Dana volunteered for many organizations for causes that were most important to her, including, Christian Medical & Dental Association, Crisis Pregnancy Center, and Meals on Wheels. She spent her time working in the church library and was a tutor at Colonial Hills Elementary. Dana was also a member of Sisters of Strength, the 55+ group, Wayside Cancer Care, Bible Study Fellowship, and had been active in the Republican Party as delegate. Additionally, she enjoyed arranging special celebrations for her “Birthday Group”.

Dana was preceded in death by her parents; husband William (Bill) Walsh; sister Shirley Smith of Michigan; and sister-in-law Linda Andersen of Houston. She is survived by her daughters Stacey and Kristi Young of Austin; brother-in-law Herb Smith; niece Karen (Keith) Chappelow, nephews David Smith and Robert (Anne) Smith of Michigan, sisters-in-law Patty (Paul) Duduit of Dallas; Frieda (Russell) Pickett of Plano; Waynel (Joe) Sexton of Houston; and Kim (Joe) Galindo of Dallas, as well as, many cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Memorial Service, Monday, July 21, 2025 @ 1pm, Christ Community Church, 1300 Evans Rd.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her memory to Christ Community Church, 1300 Evans Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78258.
