Charles Lee Newcomb, Jr.

Charles Lee Newcomb, Jr. passed away on August 9, 2026, at the age of 67. Chuck was born in

Pryor, Oklahoma, on June 16, 1959, to Charles and Sandi Newcomb.

The Newcomb family moved from Oklahoma to Longmont, Colorado, in 1969, when Chuck was

in the fourth grade. He graduated from Niwot High School in 1977 and soon followed in his

father’s footsteps by joining the Colorado Air National Guard. He served in the National Guard

until 1987, when he transitioned to active duty in the United States Air Force and relocated to

Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as a Basic Military Training

Instructor.

Throughout his distinguished 30-year military career, Chuck was stationed at Patrick Air Force

Base in Florida; Incirlik Air Base in Turkey; Vance Air Force Base in Oklahoma; RAF

Lakenheath in England; and Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska. He proudly served in Operation

Iraqi Freedom, contributing to the defense of his country during his years of active military

service. Among his many military honors, Chuck was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in

recognition of his meritorious service and dedication to his country. He proudly served as a

member of the United States Air Force and retired in 2007 at the rank of Master Sergeant.

Chuck is survived by his three children: Stephen (Angelina) of San Antonio, Texas; Patrick

(Brittany) of Boerne, Texas; and Jordan (Carlee) of Manhattan, Kansas. He is also survived by

his brother, Gary (Karen); his grandchildren, Matthew, Peyton, Kailey, and Easton; his nieces

and nephew, Anna Bennett (Rob), Cayt Edwards, and Matthew Newcomb; and his great-niece,

Kayla Bennett, and great-nephews, Jake Bennett and Timothy Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Sandi Newcomb; his sister, Michelle Bell;

his grandparents, Levi and Louisa Newcomb and James and Grace May; and his great-nephew,

Michael.

A service to honor and celebrate Chuck’s life will be held at a future date in San Antonio, Texas.

Interment will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

Chuck will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his commitment to his

country, and the lasting impact he made on the many lives he touched throughout his years of

service.
