Carrie Rebecca Barrett Alford

May 26, 1945 — April 20, 2025

Carrie Rebecca (Becky) Barrett Alford was born on May 26, 1945, in Lufkin, Texas, to Harry Hilton and Sarah Elizabeth (Faulkner) Barrett. She passed away Easter Sunday morning, April 20, 2025, in Converse, Texas, while holding her husband, Larry Alford's, hand.

Becky attended Lufkin ISD schools and graduated from Lufkin High School in 1963. She attended both Stephen F. Austin State University and Sam Houston State University.

Becky was a jeweler and diamond broker for many years in Tyler, Dallas, and Austin. Her networking and sales skills were legendary. She was good in business as well as in life because she truly cared about everyone she encountered, whether customer or friend.

Becky was a woman of great faith. She followed the Christian Science beliefs and served on several boards and committees for the church. She was a featured speaker at several conferences and wrote many articles published in church publications, including The Christian Science Journal and The Sentinel. Becky was also a Christian Science Practitioner for many years, serving and helping others. Since her passing, many of her clients, past and present, have reached out to the family to share their stories and offer their gratitude for the blessing Becky was to them in their time of need.

Becky was extremely generous. She volunteered and donated to numerous charities and was a member of the Philanthropic Education Organization (P.E.O.), serving as President and Treasurer during her time in the organization.

In her retirement, Becky took up painting, and it became one of the joys of her life. She enjoyed painting portraits, landscapes, flowers, etc. She won several awards in art shows throughout the Hill Country.

Becky was loved by everyone she met. She loved to travel, was outgoing, outspoken, and the life of the party. She loved shopping and buying clothes, shoes, and jewelry for herself and the other women and young girls in her life.

Becky is survived by her loving husband, Larry W. Alford of Wimberly, Texas, two sons, Todd Harder (Kathy) of Allen, Texas, and Christopher Harder of Beaumont, Texas. Becky had two "bonus" daughters, Alisa Alford Ward (Kelly) of Houston, Texas, and Tanya Alford (Kevin Seay) of Lake Jackson, Texas. Grandchildren include Ashton Harder of Dallas, Texas, and Peyton Harder of Corpus Christi, Texas, Micah Ward (Dana) of Houston, Texas, Melanie Finley (Brandon) of Springfield, Missouri, Noah Ward (Allie) of Chicago, Illinois, Jayden Ward of Cleveland, Texas, Jordan Alford of Acampo, California, Mason Seay, Taylor Seay, Madison Seay, Addilyn Seay all of Lake Jackson, Texas, and five great-grandchildren.
