Bernard Carrisal, a beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away on May 30, 2026, in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Born on November 23, 1959, Bernard was a man whose heart was so big that he helped anyone he could or anyone who needed help. His kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Bernard’s life was filled with simple joys and treasured moments. He loved karaoke, where his voice brought smiles and laughter to friends and family alike. His passion for the Dallas Cowboys was well known; he would cheer wholeheartedly as he watched them play, sharing those moments eagerly with those around him. Above all, Bernard cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren—time that filled his heart with immense love and pride.

Born and raised in San Antonio, Bernard remained deeply connected to his roots throughout his life. His warm presence enriched his family circle, which includes his father, Jose B. Carrisal, his loving son Bernardo Carrisal Jr., his devoted partner Ashley Borroel who was by his side through many years, and her sons Elijah, Noah, and the many nieces and nephews who held him in high regard. Bernard’s siblings—Jesse Carrisal, Joe Carrisal Jr., Mary Williams, Yolanda Contreras, Anna Gonzales, and Andrea Castiano—stood by his side as constants of love and support. His joy was magnified by his grandchildren—Justin Bernard Carrisal, Jesalyn Carrisal, and Damian Sandoval—who carried forward his legacy of kindness and warmth.

Bernard’s family also remembers those who have passed before him: his mother, Amelia Arredondo Guitron; his sister Teresa Carrisal; and cherished nephew Adam Chavez and niece Samantha Carrisal. They remain forever in the collective memory of the family, who honor their lives alongside Bernard’s.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bernard’s life and legacy on June 6, 2026. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at South - Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels located at 3520 S Flores St, San Antonio, TX. The day will also include a special commemorative gathering beginning at 3:00 p.m. where stories, memories, and laughter will be shared in honor of a life that made a difference.

As we remember Bernard, we hold close the image of a man whose heart was a wellspring of compassion and love. He was a steadfast presence who gave freely of himself, finding joy in giving and supporting those around him. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit, kindness, and love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

Bernard’s journey has ended, but his legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, cherished forever. May he rest in peace, embraced by the same love he so generously gave throughout his life.
