The sound of her laughter, the wisdom in her words, the memories of family trips, and the taste of the foods she lovingly prepared will forever remind us of the extraordinary woman she was.
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we honor the life of Aurora C. Mungia, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of Our Lord. Aurora's life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family, her strong spirit, her quick wit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely to those fortunate enough to know her.
Aurora was the heart and protector of her family. She was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—a best friend, a source of strength, and someone her loved ones could always count on. There was very little she wouldn't do for her children and family. She would stand up for those she loved without hesitation, and if that meant getting into a scuffle or two along the way, so be it. Even when there might have been a little truth to the accusations against one of her children, she was never one to back down from defending them. That was Aurora: fiercely loyal, endlessly loving, and always in her family's corner.
She had a personality that could fill a room, and her quick wit and sharp sarcasm were every bit as memorable as the needle she used so skillfully as an experienced seamstress. She was talented, resourceful, and always busy doing something. Whether she was sewing, browsing her favorite thrift stores, searching for treasures at yard sales, or planning a family camping trip or a visit to the beach, Aurora knew how to keep life interesting. She found joy in life's simple pleasures and created memories her family will carry with them forever.
Aurora also had a special gift for bringing people together through food. Her homemade tortillas, menudo, tamales, and buñuelos were just some of the many dishes she prepared with love. Her cooking was one more way she cared for her family, filling not only their stomachs but also their hearts. The memories of gathering together, sharing meals, laughing, and enjoying time as a family will remain treasured pieces of her legacy.
Above all, Aurora was a faithful Catholic who loved and served Our Lord. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and her love for her family was reflected in the way she cared for, protected, and stood beside them. She gave of herself without hesitation, and her devotion to those she loved was a testament to the depth of her heart.
Aurora leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory, including her beloved husband, Federico Mungia; her sons, Antonio Rios, John Rios, David Rios, Albert Rios, and Roger Rios; her daughters, Veronica Rios and Kimberly A. Rios; and her daughters-in-law, Dorothy Rios, Ann Marie Rios, Natasha Moreno, and Amy Trujillo. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Veronica G. Rios.
Her grandchildren include Christopher A. Rios, Crystal A. Rios, Antonio Rios Jr., David A. Rios, Mark A. Rios, Andrew R. Rios, Miranda N. Rios, Amber N. Rios, Albert Rios Jr., Alexis Saige Rios, Roger N. Rios, Alyssa J. Riojas, Andrew X. Briseno, and Gabrielle A. Briseno, along with her other beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought love and meaning to her life.
Though our hearts are broken by her absence, the love Aurora gave will never leave us. We will remember her strength, her humor, her delicious cooking, her adventurous spirit, her faithful heart, and the way she loved her family with everything she had.
The sound of her laughter, the wisdom in her words, the memories of family trips, and the taste of the foods she lovingly prepared will forever remind us of the extraordinary woman she was. Her hands may no longer be busy sewing, cooking, or caring for the people she loved, but everything those hands created—and every life they touched—will remain part of her legacy.
Aurora was one of a kind. She was our protector, our confidante, our family’s backbone, and a blessing whose place can never be filled. While we must now say goodbye to her earthly presence, we take comfort in our faith and entrust her soul to the loving mercy of Our Lord.
Rest in eternal peace, Mom. Thank you for loving us fiercely, standing beside us always, and giving us a lifetime of memories to hold close. You will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever be a part of us. Your love will continue through every generation that follows you.
Until we meet again, may perpetual light shine upon you, and may you rest in the peace of Our Lord.
