Ana S. Oscós

November 28, 1927 — December 11, 2023

San Antonio

We celebrate the life of Ana Rosalia Sánchez Oscós, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who joined our Lord in the eternal life on December 11, 2023. Ana Rosalia was born on November 28, 1927 in San Antonio, Texas. Her parents Esteban and Ana Maria moved to Oaxaca, México when mom was very young. Her mother died when she was only 8 years old. From then on, her father, grandfather, and aunts and uncles helped to raise the family of five, Carlos, Bertha, Alfonso, herself, and Socorro. Mom lived in different cities in México including Oaxaca, México DF, Tenancingo, and Toluca. Our loving mother was married to our father Angel Oscós in 1952. She gave birth to their first two children Ana and Rosario while living in Toluca. Next, mom returned to San Antonio with dad and gave birth to their other four children Dolores, Maria, Manuel, and José.

As a child mom learned to keep busy darning socks, knitting, and crocheting. Mom acquired a love for doing these types of things with her hands. She enjoyed sewing and knitting for her children and later for her grandchildren. After raising children in San Antonio, mom moved to Puerto Rico with our oldest sister Ana. In Puerto Rico she learned to make and paint ceramic items.

While living in México, mom worked as a telephone operator and later helped run her family general store in Tenancingo, México. In San Antonio, Texas she worked as a seamstress for the Finesilver Manufacturing Company, knitted and sold sweaters, and later sewed, knitted, and crocheted items to sell with her daughter Ana at Arts & Crafts shows.

Ana lived and practiced her faith in multiple cities around the world. In San Antonio, Texas she worshiped primarily at Our Lady of Sorrows, St. Mary Magdalen, and St. Helena. She also worshiped in Georgia, Kileen, Louisiana, Puerto Rico, and many places in México and Italy. In her later years she served God’s people through her work with the quilters of St. Helena. They quilted and donated blankets to the ill and grieving and to homeless mothers with infants and expectant mothers of Guadalupe Home.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Esteban Zacharias Sánchez Rosales and Ana Maria Díaz Sánchez, her brother Esteban Carlos Sánchez Díaz, her sister Bertha Sánchez Campista and her husband José Campista, Alfonso Javier Sánchez and his wife Esther Salgado de Sánchez, and Socorro Sánchez Medrano and her husband Jesse C. Medrano. Also, preceding mom in death are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Surviving mom are Angel Oscós, her children Ana B. Oscós, M. Rosario Neiman and her husband Thomas A. Neiman, Luz Dolores Oscós-Flores and her husband Carlos E. Flores, Maria de Jesٖús Jardon, Manuel Ángel Oscós-Sánchez, and José Carlos Oscós and his wife Elida Medrano Oscós. Also surviving mom are her grandchildren, their spouses, and their children. They are Vanessa Renee Neiman-Smith and her husband Brad Smith; Ana Rosalia Flores, her husband David Flores, and mom’s great-granddaughters Emma Maria, Ella Maya, and Evva Melissa; Stephanie Neiman and mom’s great-granddaughter Olivia Rose; Isabel Hold nee Jardon, her husband David Allan Hold, and mom’s great-granddaughter Sophia Rosalia; Jennifer N. Findlay, her husband Andrew Findlay, and mom’s great-granddaughters Emerson May and Sutton Sybil; Laura Flores-Dixit, her husband Naveen Flores-Dixit, and mom’s great-granddaughters Jaya Jovita and Chintana Carmelita; Angelica Elena Oscós and her partner James Davenport; Thomas Neiman and his wife Karla Neiman; and Erica Mercedes Oscós. Ana Rosalia will be dearly missed, but her memory will forever live in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory be an eternal blessing to all.
