Alice Anne Martin, 76, passed away on Jan 27, 2026, at her residence in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on October 7, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of the late Jack and Margaret Gerber.
Anne had a successful, 30-year career as a Business Service Representative at Southwestern Bell Corporation, which later become AT&T. She raised two daughters while working and keeping house and still found time for her passionate hobbies of playing bridge, bingo, rummy, and throwing lively Super Bowl parties yearly all throughout the nineteen-eighties. She was a voracious reader, as well. She had book memberships which would have two dozen books delivered each month and she would tear through reading them like they were tissue.
She was witty, sharp as a tack, strong-willed, and tolerated no one’s nonsense. Those who knew and loved her will feel her absence and deeply miss her.
In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her two brothers, Gordon and John Gerber; and her daughter, Stacey Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Bell; three granddaughters, Ramsey Martin, Margaret and Hazel Bell; and three great-grandchildren, Zanele, ZaReal, and ZaRue Smith.
A memorial service honoring Anne’s life will be held on February 13, 2026, at 10 AM at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels’ northeast location, 14315 Judson Rd, San Antonio, TX, 78233. We welcome everyone who knew and loved Anne to join us in sharing memories of her and in honoring her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance at dbsalliance.org.
