Alfredo S Valdivia

November 19, 1950 — July 13, 2025

Alfredo Valdivia-Solís, 74, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on July 13, 2025., the 27th anniversary of his oldest son's death. Born on November 19, 1950 in Mexico City, Mexico, to Alfredo Valdivia and MariaLuisa Solis. He was a devoted husband to Martha Mejia, a loving father to Alfredo III and Daniel, a best friend to his siblings Martha and Johnny, and adoring Tata to Fredo, Maya, and Livie.

Alfredo, or Fred as so many people knew him by, began his formal education in Mexico City. The family immigrated to Chicago, Illinois in 1965 where he continued his education and earned his diploma from St. Mel's Catholic High School.

After joining the United States Air Force he married his life partner, Martha Mejia in Chicago and they shared 52 years together. Their marriage gave life to two boys: Alfredo III and Daniel. Freddy was born in 1973 while they were stationed in Champaign, Illinois. His second son, Danny, was born in 1975 at Fort Collins, Colorado while stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They also spent 5 years in Blytheville, Arkansas. Fred's biggest move with his family was to Rammstein Germany, where they were stationed for 11 consecutive years. His final move with the Air Force was to Laughlin Air Force Base.

Fred was hard-working and dedicated. He held his Mexican and American citizenship close to his heart, embracing both cultures with equal pride. Thus serving 27 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1997. Fred never really retired. After his Air Force career, he began a second career with the U.S. Civil Service working at The Federal Courts System in the Department of Justice. The family's final move landed them in San Antonio, Texas, closer to medical treatments for their son Freddy, who had been diagnosed with cancer. Fred, Martha, and Daniel laid Freddy to rest at the same place where Fred will now rest between his son and his mother.

Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions. And despite all the titles he held in his long careers Tata was the title he enjoyed most. Though he may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of brutal honesty, integrity, kindness, generosity and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Fred's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He was a genius with a computer. After retiring (the second time), volunteering for CASA was one of his most fulfilling pastimes by being a positive influence and guide. He was instrumental in being a volunteer soccer coach for the youth wherever he was stationed. He never forgot his roots and culture, ¡Viva, Mexico! He loved music, dancing, traveling, food, languages, wood working, SOCCER - Chivas! GOOOOOOOOL! His love for family was something he instilled in his children, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brother Dr Juan Valdivia, and son Alfredo Valdivia III.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Martha, son Daniel (daughter in law, Sara), grandson Alfredo IV (Elisabeth), granddaughter Amaya Isabella, great granddaughter Alivia Rey Valdivia who was his greatest joy the last two and a half years of life, sister Martha Razzino (brother in law Tony) and extended family members: cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

A funeral service will be held on August 8, 2025 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, Texas.

We find comfort in knowing that Fred's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
