William Gregory "Greg" Hall

September 20, 1954 — October 25, 2016

William Gregory "Greg" Hall of San Antonio, Texas went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at the age of 62. Greg had a very personal and deep relationship with Jesus and is rejoicing in health and happiness. The youngest of four brothers, Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Hall, father, William P. Hall, oldest brother, Charles W. Hall and nephew, Stephen W. Hall, Jr. He is survived by two older brothers Steve Hall and wife Irene, Doug Hall and wife Helen, younger sister Terri Hall-Giese, and his partner Naomi Coleman; 2 nephews, 4 nieces and 10 great-nieces (+2 on the way) and great-nephews, and numerous extended family.
Greg was born in Fairborn, Ohio on September 20, 1954. When his older brother handed him his first set of drum sticks at a very young age, it was an instant love and he pursued that passion throughout his life, watching and listening to the late Buddy Rich for inspiration. Greg was a member of the John Jay High School Stage Band and was a founding member of a small neighborhood band which began in his family garage. He was an extremely talented musician/drummer with a beautiful voice and keen ear for harmony. He enjoyed playing in a variety of bands up until just a year ago. He always had a special place in his heart for longtime band members of The Ruby Falls Blues Band, The Smith Brothers and the American Peddlers. One of Greg's most memorable experiences was as a drummer with The American Peddlers, traveling military bases and putting on shows/concerts for our service men and women. He was a proud American and enjoyed many relationships with this group of individuals who selflessly give so much to our nation.Greg also had a successful career in the Financial Analysis and Debt Collection industry moving his way up as a team lead, supervisor and trainer. He will be remembered for forming genuine bonds with his co-workers and making each feel special and valued, always lending an ever-listening ear.
Greg's most beloved and cherished relationships were with his family, offering love, hope and help where he could, a sweet smile or a good laugh when the situation was right. A genuinely kind, gentle, caring and loving man, Greg will forever be remembered and deeply missed by his family and many friends. If you wish to remember Greg, donations can be made to VH1 Save the Music Foundation at vh1savethemusic.org or Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation at mhopus.org. These organizations provide support to music programs in public schools across the country.
