Wayne William Fogus

June 11, 1928 — February 18, 2022

Wayne William Fogus passed from this life on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the age of 93. Wayne was born in June 1928 to Hattie Lorene Killingbeck and Milton Dewey Fogus in Pleasant Township, Indiana. Wayne was one of 13 brothers and sisters. At a young age he learned the value of hard work, a value he maintained throughout his lifetime. He worked on the farms of Lakers and the Wolfes all the way through high school; learning farming skills. He went to Millcreek High School where he was the captain of the basketball, track, baseball and football teams. He graduated in 1947. He started college at Valparaiso University and in 1948 joined the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Major and received numerous awards and medals. He was an expert Marksman and received merits and awards in competitions. He served time in the Panama Canal Zone where he met the love of his life, Colette D. Beauroy. They married in July 23, 1950, and raised 4 daughters. Wayne proudly served his country in Vietnam, and Ethiopia. He retired in 1968 in San Antonio, Texas where he finished college receiving his accounting and business degree at the University of Our Lady of the Lake University. He began a new career in real estate and started his own company. He eventually became a broker and bought a franchise under Century 21 Wayne Fogus Realty. Wayne was an avid bowler and was secretary of the Guys and Dolls Bowling League for many years. He was active in his Catholic parish, serving as a lector, and Extra ordinary minister for Holy Communion. He was a third-degree Knight of Columbus in the Monsignor Robert Silverman Council 9291. He was a Knight of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem achieving the rank of Knight Commander with Star.

Wayne is survived by his daughters, Cozette Gladys Bustamante and her husband, Michael, Ninette Irene Roberson, Yvette Dorothea Porter and her husband Kenneth Porter, Odette Marie Bates and Tim Harper; his brother Harold Norman Fogus of Seattle WA, his sister Ethel Ilene Nugent of Valparaiso IN; his sister in law Anne Fogus of Surprise, AZ, an numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his grandchildren, Monique Silva and her husband, Joe, Eric Roberson, Justin Roberson and his wife Michelle, Genevieve Roberson, Cody Wayne Porter, Victoria Porter, Danielle Porter, Colette Bates, Andrew Bates, Renee Bates and Sarah Bates: great grandchildren, Constantine Zepeda, Isadora Zepeda, Skyler Rose Siple, Jayden Siple and Carson Leija.

Wayne is preceded in death by his lovely wife of 64 years Colette; son in laws, James Michael Batchelder, John Leo Roberson; brothers Warren Harding Fogus, Raymond Henry Fogus, Robert Milton Fogus; sisters Dorothy Lucille Fogus, Florence Alice Doolittle, Clara Delores Zook, Violet Mae Whitaker; Margaret Jane Wantland, Betty Lu Fogus and June Fogus.
