Tod Phillip Smith passed away August 18, 2019 in San Antonio, TX. Born December 31, 1955 in Dallas County, Tod is preceded in death by father James Kenneth Smith, mother Betty Jean Farrow, and wife Gwendolyn Garvin Smith. He is survived by step-mother LaVerne Smith, brothers Blake Smith and wife Cindy, Tate Smith and wife Donna, and sister Teresa Lee Smith as well as step brothers Larry Draehn and wife Carol, Rick Draehn and wife Tracie along with many friends and in-laws. A member of The Sons of the Republic of Texas, Tod is also a graduate of Sul Ross University and taught several years at Bradley Middle School in San Antonio. Tod was an active member of the Texas Master Naturalists which he enjoyed immensely and loved the outdoors, especially the Trans-Pecos Region of Texas where he lived in Alpine and Marathon while attending college. Tod will be remembered as a true friend with a unique sense of humor to many who encountered him in life. There will be a drop in memorial reception at Green Space Alliance at 108 East Mistletoe Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78212 from 5 to 7pm on Saturday September 21, 2019 for those who want to pay their respects to the family and celebrate Tod’s life with friends and fellow volunteers. Refreshments will be available. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Green Spaces Alliance in Tod’s name. https://greensatx.org/
