Ryan Matthew Coy

On February 13, 2023, Ryan Matthew Coy departed this earthly life and went home to be with his heavenly Father. Ryan was born on June 17, 1971, in San Antonio, TX to Vincent & Sue Coy. He is preceded in death by his Father Vincent Coy, fraternal grandparents William S. Coy & Elizabeth Ball Coy, maternal grandparents Charles R. Buffington Jr. & Mary Louise Buffington, Aunt Florence Duke, Uncle Ernest Coy, Aunt Elizabeth Buchanan, Uncle Frank Coy, Aunt Mary Louise Bulloch, Aunt Patricia Tolar, Aunt Katherine Holland, Aunt Dorothy Seifert, Uncle Charles R. Buffington III, and Aunt Patricia J. Buffington. Ryan is survived by his daughters Taylor Nicole Moore, Victoria Elizabeth Coy, and Taralyn Noelle Coy, Mother Sue Coy, former wife Melissa Kotara, numerous cousins as well as countless friends.

Ryan not only was born in San Antonio, but also grew up there too. He was a San Antonian to his core. He attended and graduated from MacArthur High School in 1989. Ryan followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps and joined the military after graduation. He enlisted in the US Army Reserves and went to Basic Training and AIT at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri for Combat Engineering. Ryan attended Southwest Texas State University (Texas State University) as well as Incarnate Word. Ryan had many talents that led him to careers in many industries that included Restaurant Management, Purveyor Sales, Owner of a Jan-King franchise, and Oil & Gas.

It is impossible to write down or describe Ryan in just a few paragraphs. He had a presence to him that people gravitated to, his smile brightened rooms, his laugh was contagious, his love for his family was unfailing, and his passion for Jesus was undeniable. Ryan loved all kinds of music and could sing with the best of them. He was a fan of the Spurs, Astros, Cowboys, the Texas Longhorns, and the Norte Dame Irish. He enjoyed hunting, watching old movie classics with his grandmother or the Goonies with his kids, the San Antonio rodeo, hanging with his friends, spending time with his family, especially with his Mom and his daughter’s whom he cherished. There is truly so much more that could be written about Ryan. He touched many lives in his 51 short years here with us. As his daughter’s stated, his love was big and spread so far. Ryan will be missed by so many, and it is hard to imagine life without him being a part of it. But we can take solace in reflecting on the light Ryan shown and knowing he is singing, smiling, and at peace with our Lord and Savior.
