Dr. Romeo Soriano was born during World War II, in 1941. Life was difficult in the Philippines during that time, but his parents worked hard and did their best to raise the children in a safe home. Romeo would occasionally travel with his father, who was a World War II veteran. They would sometimes visit the American military bases, and he would play among the soldiers and they would give him chocolates which was a special treat as food could be scarce. He loved to play sports with his friends in the city. Romeo was a voracious reader, who was especially inquisitive and craved knowledge. During his elementary and high school days, He loved to read from magazine and comic stands, and later in life his love of reading would make him the doctor he became and the teacher who was loved by all. An avid Chess player, he would play in town championships and sometimes bring prize money home to the family. In his teenage years, he was an altar boy in the Assumption Parish Church, Malate, Manila, Philippines. He attended and served for a brief time at the San Carlos Seminary, Makati City, Philippines, where he decided his calling was to heal the body as well as the soul. He graduated at the top of his class from the oldest existing Catholic university in the Philippines called the University of Santo Tomas in Manila as a Doctor of Medicine on May 8, 1965. After graduating from medicine, he took his residency in San Lazaro Hospital, Manila, Philippines. He began a small piggery business to help the family in generating income before he moved to the United States. In the United States he took a residency in Pathology at Methodist Hospital in Gary, Indiana, and successfully passed the Pathology Board licensure examination before moving to New Hampshire. The eldest of 8 siblings, his dedication to his career gave him the ability to send money to his parents in the Philippines to help pay for the educational expenses for all his siblings. A board certified pathologist, Dr. Soriano served as a staff pathologist at the Concord Hospital in Concord, New Hampshire until 1990, and practiced as a forensic pathologist part time for the NH Department of Health and Human Services. He specialized in hematology, and was sought after by pathology labs all over the United States for his knowledge and expertise.
