Raul C. Mendoza

Raul was born on November 30, 1939, in San Antonio, TX, and passed away there on March 14th, 2021 at Northeast Baptist Hospital.
Many knew him as Raul and others as Roy; regardless, they all knew he was an avid Cubs fan since he moved to Chicago in 1957. He never missed a game and was beside himself when they won the World Series in 2016. He was employed by Mail-Well Envelope and dedicated 44 years to the industry; starting in 1957 until 2001. During his retirement years, Raul kept busy by doing small woodworking projects which he meticulously hand-painted himself. He also collected and created playlists of his favorite music and dabbled with new technology as much as he could.

Ever the patient man, he was never too busy to lend a helping hand or teach something new to an inquiring mind. He loved getting to know people. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and loved ones sharing his memories. For those who experienced these moments, they understand what a privilege it was for those who lived those stories with him; to learn some of their own history through him or just getting to know Roy for the wonderful man he was. For this and so many more reasons, he will be forever loved and missed.

He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 25 years, Elizabeth Mendoza, and his parents Manuel and Anita Mendoza. He leaves behind his daughter, Anita Reyes (Larry Fowler), his loving stepchildren, Zaven (Lilian) Sevoian, Rima (Joseph) FitzSimmons, and Rosie Burris, siblings Fidel Mendoza, Gloria Benavidez, Elena Villegas, David (Elaine) Mendoza, and Robert (Maria) Martinez as well as his beloved grandchildren; Jonathan, Michele, Michael, Elizabeth, Ray, Nacho & Julian, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
