Peggy Jo Mcglothlin

August 21, 1945 — November 24, 2020

Peggy Jo McGlothlin, 75, died peacefully, surrounded by family in her home in San Antonio, Texas on November 24, 2020 after a prolonged battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Peggy was born in Jacksonville, Texas on August 21, 1945 and grew up in Ennis, Texas where she attended Ennis High School and had many life-long friends and fond memories. She ventured out into the world as a young woman, living in Germany for three years and traveling throughout Europe. She returned to Texas and lived most of her life in the San Antonio area where she raised five children.

Peggy loved to travel and collected souvenir spoons from all over the world. When MS curtailed her travel plans, she could always count on her children and grandchildren to bring her a spoon back from their travels. Visitors to her home would marvel at the collection that lined her walls and numbered between 300-400 spoons.

Peggy was also a master in the kitchen. This was one of many magical gifts she had that kept her family close. Every grandchild shares the memory of baking their first batch of Christmas cookies at Mam-Ma’s house. Peggy published a cookbook containing all her favorite recipes just weeks before passing and inscribed each one with a personal note. We will cherish this gift for all our lives.

Peggy was a strong woman who faced challenges with grit and determination. She was also the kindest and most loving person you could hope to have in your life. She always greeted you with a warm smile and a big hug. You could talk to her about anything without fear of judgement and know that she would listen, give her best advice, and love you no matter what. Her loving support will be missed by all who knew her.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wayne McGlothlin; her parents, Grady and Oravell Cribbs; and her brother, Bobby Cribbs. She is survived by her children Stanford Pennington Jr, Penny Pennington, Dustin Pennington, Shelby Lavender, and Christopher McGlothlin; her stepchildren Michael McGlothlin, David McGlothlin, Donna McGlothlin and Beverly McGlothlin; twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren

The family would like to thank her dear friend, Chuck Androckitis, who cared for her and enriched her life in so many ways in recent years.

Graveside services will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio with a celebration of her life to follow.
