Mrs. Patricia Ann Vandewalle (October 22, 1930 – March 22, 2017)

Patricia (Pat) Ann Vandewalle, 86, born in Greenbay, Wisconsin, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. Her husband Major Kenneth (Ken) Joseph Vandewalle (RET.), and her sister Judy Kralovic survive Patricia. Her parents, Louis and Carolyn Peters, and her sisters, Joan Bushmaker and Carleen Peters, precede her in death. Married for 64 years, Pat and Ken traveled the world serving with the United States Air Force as they raised their three sons, Ken, Kurt, and Kraig Vandewalle. With a humble spirit, Pat was a devout woman of faith and carried her reverent nature wherever she went. She had an unwavering belief in God, and demonstrated a deep commitment to the Catholic Church. Pat faithfully cared for her family and friends and demonstrated her love often through generous hospitality, delicious cooking, and specialty baking. Her legacy of hospitality is carried on through countless recipes that continue to bring the Vandewalle family together. Pat was a graduate from St. Joseph Academy in Green Bay Wisconsin. She loved to read novels, exercise, knit, crochet, and decorate Christmas ornaments. She spent many hours as a volunteer at numerous community and church organizations throughout her life, including the Universal City Library. She especially cherished time spent with her siblings, children, and grandchildren. Pat was a Grandmother to eight grandchildren; Kacy, Miles, Emily, Abigail, Kristina, Patricia, Shelby, and Alex, and a Great-Grandmother to three; Kailey, Kate, and Silas.

A Rosary and Dedication Mass will be held on Monday, March 27th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 202 N. St. Marys Street, San Antonio Texas from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

An Interment will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in the near future as scheduling permits. In lieu of flowers, a charitable gift can be made to Good Samaritan Community Services, a nonprofit on San Antonio’s West Side serving over 5,500 individuals and families each year to break the cycle of poverty: donate.goodsam.org
