Nicholas E. Rees Iii

June 2, 1939 — February 24, 2020

Nicholas (Nick) E. Rees III passed on to be with Jesus on February 24, 2020. Nick was born on June 2, 1939 in Chicago, IL to N. Edward and Lucile (Holm-Hansen) Rees. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Rees. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne (Kleiser) Rees; son, Kevin Rees of South Bend, IN; and daughter, Diane Flack of Granger, IN. He is also survived by grandkids, Austin Flack of Mishawaka, IN, Ashton Flack of Mishawaka, IN and sisters in law: Judie McGlinchey of Port Charlotte, FL; Michele Foster of South Bend, IN; Patricia Buffington of Houston, TX; Barb (Phil) Stillson of Elkhart, IN; Paula (Dennis) Fields of Niles, MI; Beki (Mark) Paulus of Colorado Springs, CO; Kaye Kryger of IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Nick was a native of Chicago, IL, moved to South Bend, IN in 1969, and retired to San Antonio, IX in 2005. He was a graduate of Arlington High School and attended Wright Junior College in Chicago, IL in 1967. He married Joanne Kleiser and they celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2017. He sold tools and fasteners for heavy construction. After retirement he drove a shuttle for a car dealership in Mishawaka.

He was very proud of his military service and appreciated the recognition he received. He was a member of the military from 1975 to 1999. Retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant, prior to that he was in the army for three years.

He was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church. He loved the University of Notre Dame football games, San Antonio Spurs, his camper, traveling and his dog, "Mindy".
